Saw Elvis Costello tonight, at a show at the Paramount involving a big spinning wheel, go go dancers, and audience participation. Elvis is my favorite artist, which just goes to show that I have the taste of a 50-year old. Seriously I do.

He played Veronica, which is about his grandma. The song makes me tear up thinking about my grandma and grandpa and the memories, depth of emotions and experience, and inner life, real or imaginary, they lead but aren’t able to or don’t express. What past turmoil, dreams, and passions are now masked by stillness?
